Data Analyst Engineer

With the creation of the Data Analytics Engineer position, you will have the chance to be at the heart of the deployment of this team that will aim to democratize the use of data. In your role, your primary mission will be to help Astus turn data into actionable insights by supporting customers in making informed, fact-based decisions. You will work in concert with the product management, customer experience teams to work on customer issues. You will be responsible for the design and preparation of fleet operation data analysis dashboards. You will ensure the integrity, consistency, utility, quality and timeliness of the analysis and dashboards to be prepared using sustainable automation techniques. Data included in the dashboards will include, but not be limited to, operations data extracted from Astus’ own database (e.g. time series, GPS positioning, vehicle statuses, individual fleet attributes, etc.), data from various enterprise resource planning (ERP) software packages, as well as data from other complementary third-party solutions.

Functions and responsibilities

Responsibilities

Work with product management and customer experience teams to understand reporting requirements and the data needed to produce them
Understand the source of data required for reporting to make clear decisions on the appropriate sourcing and data collection strategy
Perform data analysis and ensure attributes are present to support the required data manipulation and scaling
Leverage tools such as Python to automate data processing and normalization
Document end-to-end workflows and evaluate processes contributing to key data used
Provide analysis and reporting by performing data extraction, manipulation and visualization design
Use tools such as Tableau and PowerBI to develop interactive and actionable dashboards
Collaborate with the development team to enable the display of dashboards created within Astus developed customer portals
Perform maintenance and support enhancement requests for developed reports as needed and prioritized
Be proactive in suggesting improvements to reports

Qualifications & Requirements

University degree in engineering or equivalent
Demonstrated skills in advanced analytics with an understanding of how to manipulate and transform data to produce valuable and relevant information for the client
Strong data science and technical background
Strong knowledge of software such as Tableau, Power BI, etc.
Knowledge of data processing languages (such as Python or R) and knowledge of additional programming languages is a plus

Excellent knowledge of SQL and supporting tools (SQL Developer, etc.)
Knowledge of database technologies and concepts
Knowledge of data transfer mechanisms between systems (API, XML, etc.)
Experience in project management is a plus
Strong interest in technology and transportation industry companies
Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook and the Windows environment
Excellent command of spoken and written French and English
